About me

I graduated from UC Santa Cruz with a degree in Biology. I didn’t do a subspecialty degree because I wanted to learn a little bit of everything — ecology & evolution, microbiology, and physiology were all equally fascinating to me, not to mention all the awesome classes outside my major. This ardent curiosity led me to pursue science communication.

I attended Imperial College London’s Science Communication graduate program. I learned about the philosophy of science, the history of science communication, and received hands-on training in radio and video production. I earned first class honors on my Master of Science degree in Science Media Production.

Since then, I’ve covered environmental news and policy, worked as a medical writer, and served as a general assignment science reporter with a specialty in health & medicine in a fast-paced newsroom. My current role is science writer/editor and podcast producer at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, where I work closely with scientists to share amazing research with the world. I also produce and host the podcast A Day in the Half-Life, which explores the history of STEM fields and illuminates the daily lives of the scientists involved.

Across mediums, I seek to make content that is accessible, informative, and story-driven. Where possible, I like to play with unexpected, creative formats.
